The largest offshore wind-farm in Maryland was pending approval from the Public Service Commission. The Town of Ocean City was supportive of wind infrastructure off its shores as long as the size and the distance of the turbines did not obstruct its hallowed, natural view from it’s beaches.
When the company tasked with their development decided upon turbines that were as tall as New York City’s Chrysler building, it was imperative that concerned residents made their voices heard.
In a two week window, organize and drive concerned citizens and business owners to a public hearing of the Maryland Public Service Commission regarding the proposed changes of turbine size.
Fells Group implemented and managed digital, mail, and canvassing tactics on the island to build awareness of the hearing and gather attendance commitments.
Over 700 people filled the Convention Center to show support for the Town’s position. Their presence and subsequent media coverage made it clear: the residents of Ocean City deserved to be heard in large scale infrastructure conversations.
